    The Broadcast Buyer is the steward of the entire buying and implementation process for Broadcast Investment and works very closely with the broader Investment Arm, the Media Brand teams and Trafficking team. This role is critical in providing input to the overall corporate investment direction as well as the development and execution of buys under the direction of the Broadcast Investment Manager. The planner is also responsible for achieving operational excellence (timeliness and accuracy) across the media billing payable process. Primary responsibilities will be to execute the day-to-day tasks for assigned accounts and will be expected to be familiar with all account details as they pertain to broadcast investment activities – this includes the complete implementation and ongoing quality of broadcast campaigns. The Broadcast Buyer is also responsible for the development and deliverables of Media Assistants, ensuring excellence throughout each campaign, and that the integrity of work continues through the course of campaigns for each client.


    Media Activation and Execution:

    • Establish and maintain accuracy of billing system (Adtraq) through campaign set up and goal entry respecting client/campaign budgets
    • Utilize tools to develop the best possible execution strategy, rationale and buy structure to deliver on campaign KPIs
    • Works with team leadership to understand market dynamics (pricing, exceptional opportunities) and strengthen vendor relationships
    • Use automated processes at all times to minimize manual data transfer (minimizing risk)
    • Consistently deliver buy structures that encompass the best environments for each client’s target audience, while also maximizing value and efficiency
    • Works with Media Brand teams to ensure timely delivery of assets needed for special executions
    • Works with trafficking teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and instructions to stations
    • Works with team leadership to prepare reporting documentation for Media Brands, Clients demonstrating the strategy and rationale executed to deliver campaign KPIs
    • Works with Media Brand teams to maintain media budgets and changes to media plan post-negotiation
    • Analyzes preemption/make good activity to ensure value delivery is enhanced wherever possible
    • Works with Media Assistants to ensure discrepancy completion before 90 days past month aired
    • Monitors open payables for each month and works with Media Assistant to resolve any payable discrepancies to ensure accurate campaign posting
    • Actualizes each campaign, including the negotiation of compensation for use on future campaigns
    • Understands the impact of under delivering stations/properties, and uses this learning to influence and optimize future buy structures and executions

     Client & Internal Relationships:

    • Manages day-to-day Media Brand interaction as far as buy details are concerned (rates/costs, deadlines for asset delivery, launch timeline, etc.)
    • Manages expectations of Investment arm, Media Brands and deliverables - critically defend/ rationalise vendor/property selection to internal stakeholders
    • Works closely with the Media Brand throughout activation process to maintain performance and resolves any issues
    • Functions well in high-pressure situations, with an ability to stay calm and collected and deliver efficient solutions
    • Leads vendor relationships for their key accounts
    • Builds positive relationships with internal and external teams and sets a good example for their peers

     Strategic Thinking:

    • Assesses problems and concerns in a systematic, logical and rational manner
    • Constantly curious and participates in face-to-face vendor meetings
    • Keeps up with the latest trends in AV media
    • Proactively resolve issues, knows when and who to escalate to
    • Aptitude for priority management where it concerns managing multiple deliverables/work streams
    • Contributes to strategising ways to improve and optimise campaign performance to meet client KPIs

     Communications Skills:

    • Expresses oneself clearly and concisely in oral and written communications
    • Ability to organise ideas and present back information logically and sequentially
    • Assists in the development of media presentations and tactical POVs
    • Ensures key information is provided to the team regarding client issues and internal agency issues as they arise


    • Post-secondary education in business administration, media, advertising, or related field
    • 1+ years of media planning/buying experience focused on TV channels
    • Proficient in numbers, budgeting and excel data entry tasks
    • Strong analytical skills, ability to relate results to client business objectives
    • Mid-level to Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoin
