    What does a Senior Digital Investment Planner do?

    You will be responsible for guiding and reinforcing best practice behavior in a high performing team of 2-4 people (a minimum of one Digital Investment Planner and one Digital Investment Coordinator).  You will act as a hands on extension of your Management team to instill optimal performance across the entire buying and implementation process of Digital Investment as it relates to your dedicated patch of clients and work very closely with the wider Investment Arm, Ad Operations and Media Brand teams. The Senior Digital Investment Planner is also expected to be a steward of achieving operational excellence (timeliness and accuracy) across the media billing payable process for their entire client portfolio set, helping to troubleshoot and problem solve areas of issue. This role is also critical for providing input into supporting the overall corporate investment direction as well as the quality standards of the team’s buying recommendation and execution.

    Responsibilities

    People Management, Media Activation and Execution:

    • Attentively guides, trains and supports your team across activation deliverables throughout the campaign lifecycle
    • Ensures total quality management around campaign recommendations and delivery
    • Drives positive working relationships with our supply side partners and channels relevant feedback to Management
    • Helps to identify personal development areas in team members while helping to address any under performance
    • Works with Team Management to facilitate the implementation of quality control processes and systems where needed
    • Guides team based on direction of Management where required to develop investment strategies that maximize media dollars and media efficacy
    • Provides guidance on digital vendor selection where it relates to Amplifi’s commercial investment direction and the rationalization to Media Brand teams.
    • Responsible for monitoring open payables and collaborate with the Digital Investment Planner, Coordinator and Media Brand to ensure campaign reconciliation in a timely manner.
    • Understand how to operate our internal tools that enable actualization of media buys (ad server and billing system) and reporting on open payables.

     

    Client & Internal Relationships:

    • Oversees the day-to-day Media Brand interaction as far as buy details are concerned (rates/costs, deadlines for asset delivery, launch timeline, etc.)
    • Manages expectations of Investment arm, Media Brands and deliverables - critically defend/rationalize media plan selection to internal stakeholders
    • Works closely with the Media Brands throughout activation process to maintain performance and resolve any issues
    • Functions well in high-pressure situations, with an ability to stay calm and collected and deliver efficient solutions
    • Leads vendor relationships for their key accounts
    • Builds positive relationships with internal and external teams and sets a good example for their peers
    • Responsible for working with team management to aid in the development of junior staff - manage time, assure projects are completed on time and adhered to (within) budget.
    • Provides guidance to team members to nurture and promote a healthy team environment

     

    Strategic Thinking & Leadership:

    • Assesses problems and concerns in a systematic, logical and rational manner
    • Constantly curious and participates in face-to-face vendor meetings
    • Keeps up with the latest trends in digital media
    • Proactively resolves issues, knows when and who to escalate to
    • Aptitude for priority management where it concerns managing multiple deliverables/work streams
    • Coaches junior team members on how to find strategic ways to improve and optimize the media buy and campaign performance to meet client KPIs
    • Informs team management of new opportunities or challenges that deviate from corporate investment direction

     

    Communications Skills:

    • Expresses oneself clearly and concisely in oral and written communications
    • Ability to organize ideas and present back information logically and sequentially
    • Ability to develop and present media presentations and tactical POVs that are easy to understand but also compelling and persuasive
    • Ensures key information is provided to the team regarding client issues and/or internal agency issues as they arise

    Qualifications

    EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • 4 years of media planning/buying/investment experience, including at least 3-4 years focused on digital media.
    • Proven track record of creating, developing and rationalizing digital media investment recommendations for global and/or local brands.
    • Strong negotiation and people skills
    • High level of confidence with an ability to manage expectations with internal stakeholders
    • Strong prioritization skills, with an expert ability to manage one’s time for optimal output
    • Strong analytical skills and proficient with numbers and budgets to relate results with client business objectives
    • Mid-level to Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Established experience working with ad serving technologies such as DoubleClick Campaign Manager and/or buying platforms such as AdWords.
    • Google Certification (ideal but not mandatory)
