    The Broadcast Manager is responsible for developing a high performing team and providing guidance on client and campaign strategy while overseeing their overall development and deliverables. You will oversee the entire buying and implementation process of Broadcast Investment as it relates to your dedicated group of clients and works very closely with the broader Investment Arm, Traffic and Media Brand teams. The Manager is also responsible for achieving operational excellence (timeliness and accuracy) across the media billing payable process for their entire client portfolio set. This role is critical in enforcing and providing input into the overall corporate investment direction as well as the overseeing the quality standards of the team’s buying strategy and execution.

     

    Responsibilities

    Media Activation and Execution:

    • Attentively manages, trains and mentors direct reports across activation deliverables across the campaign lifecycle
    • Ensures total quality management around campaign recommendations and delivery
    • Drives employee retention and channels feedback to Director on how to devise countermeasures
    • Ensures team resources are delegated in an agile way that delivers optimal service for Media Brands and internal efficiencies
    • Grows the sophistication of your team’s media knowledge, expanding into data and technology
    • Drives positive working relationships with our vendors and channels relevant feedback to Director
    • Identifies personal development areas in your team while addressing any underperformance
    • Works with Director to sufficiently implement quality control processes and systems where lacking
    • Drives Media Brand and client adoption of DAN capabilities, e.g. The Story Lab
    • Coaches team where required to develop investment strategies that maximise media dollars and media efficacy with or without productivity guidelines
    • Provides guidance on vendor selection where it relates to Amplifi’s commercial investment direction and the rationalisation to Media Brand teams
    • Accountable for the monitoring of open payables and ensure the team (Investment Supervisor, Planners, Media Assistants) collaborate with the Media Brand to ensure campaign reconciliation 
    • Understand how to operate our internal tools that enable actualisation of media buys (ad server and billing system) and reporting on open payables

    Client & Internal Relationships:

    • Oversees the day-to-day Media Brand interaction as far as buy details are concerned (rates/costs, deadlines for asset delivery, launch timeline, etc.)
    • Manages expectations of Investment arm, Media Brands and deliverables - critically defend/ rationalise media plan selection to internal stakeholders
    • Works closely with the Media Brands throughout activation process to maintain performance and resolve any issues
    • Functions well in high-pressure situations, with an ability to stay calm and collected and deliver efficient solutions
    • Leads vendor relationships for their key accounts
    • Builds positive relationships with internal and external teams and sets a good example for their peers
    • Responsible for working with Director to develop and oversee junior staff- manage time, assure projects are completed on time and adhered to (within) budget – strong ability to delegate
    • Guides team members to nurture and promote a healthy team environment

     

    Strategic Thinking & Leadership:

    • Assesses problems and concerns in a systematic, logical and rational manner
    • Constantly curious and participates in face-to-face vendor meetings
    • Keeps up with the latest trends in Broadcast media
    • Proactively resolve issues, knows when and whom to escalate to
    • Aptitude for priority management where it concerns managing multiple deliverables/work streams
    • Coaches planners on how to find strategic ways to improve and optimize the media buy and campaign performance to meet client KPIs
    • Informs Director of new opportunities or challenges that deviate from corporate investment direction

     

    Communications Skills:

    • Expresses oneself clearly and concisely in oral and written communications
    • Ability to organise ideas and present back information logically and sequentially
    • Ability to develop and present media presentations and tactical POVs that are easy to understand but also compelling and persuasive
    • Ensures critical information is provided to 

    Qualifications

    • A minimum five years of media planning/buying experience ideally focused on broadcast buying/investment
    • Proven track record of creating, developing and rationalising investment recommendations for global and local brands
    • Strong people manager with the ability to manage, develop and retain top talent while addressing poor performance
    • Strong negotiation and people skills
    • High level of confidence with an ability to manage expectations with internal stakeholders
    • Strong prioritisation skills, with an expert ability to manage one’s time for optimal output
    • Strong analytical skills and proficient with numbers and budgets to relate results with client business objectives
    • Mid-level to Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
