The Assistant Controller is responsible for the financials and overall DAN Canada responsibility on financial processes and best practices.

Responsibilities

Accounting:

  • Review & ownership of reporting & analytic of business units financials
  • Review budget & forecast in conjunction with Commercial Finance
  • Review & ownership of business units balance sheet
  • Financial integration for new acquisitions
  • Review DAN Canada financial processes to implement best practices, compliance controls and procedures
  • Plan and drive various DAN Canada improvement projects implementation
  • Manage brands RTR processes with outsource team
  • Drive DAN Canada completion of group audit process and local statutory accounts
  • Responsible for appropriately escalating issues to Controller
  • Talent management & supervise team
  • Other ad-hoc projects

Client & Internal Relationships:

  • Support Controller in preparing and delivering work to colleagues
  • Respond to requests for information quickly and accurately
  • Engages with all work-related contacts in a professional and respectful manner
  • Establish strong internal relationships with agency personnel

Strategic Thinking & Leadership:

  • Assess problems and concerns in a systematic, logical and rational manner
  • Proactively resolve issues, know when to and to whom to escalate
  • Provide guidance to team members nurture/promote team environment
  • Training of team members
  • May be responsible for constructing and delivering accurate, honest and timely performance management documents
  • Capable of managing multiple deliverables and ability to seamlessly transition among them

  • Expresses oneself clearly and concisely in oral communications
  • Writes in a clear, compelling and concise manner
  • Organizes ideas and information logically and sequentially

Qualifications

  • CPA certification is required
  • 10+ years of financial experience preferably in media
  • Experience in outsource environment
  • Thorough understanding of the financial process
  • Knowledge of accounting practices and principles
  • Thrives in a fast pace, constantly changing environment
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
